In the end I think affordability and nutrition overrule feeding animals a vegan diet.
However this is a rather controversial topic and I don't think there is any "wrong" answer persay.

My cats get Optimum dry biscuits and Whiskas wet food. My dogs get Optimum dry biscuits, My Dog wet food, and mixed veggies with pasta and rice that I cook up, portion, and freeze.

My pets aren't vegan, as much as I wish they could be, it would just be unrealistic and impractical to make them vegan at this stage.

Cats - fresh mince ( chicken, pork or beef ) chicken breast and they have there dry bikkies.

Dog - Duke is  a st.Bernard so he seems to have a endless stomach tongue he gets veggies, dry bikkies and pedigree can meat, plus bones and treats like those chewy teeth cleaners ect.

Ferret - Murphy gets the same as the cats pretty much.

As much as i hate the idea of feeding them meat but then again i personally think it is unrealistic as they are natural carnivours and cats and ferret can never be vegan as they only eat meat - but dogs on the other hand i think it can be done. Our old st.bernard was veggie as she could no longer digest meat and bones but Duke wont touch the stuff so he isnt.

My dogs mainly eat Natures Gift and Four Legs dog food. They also get a range of fresh veg, rice, pasta and tuna meals. We also like to buy fresh meat for them that people don't tend to eat like chicken necks.
I am all for vegetarian/vegan dogs though, and when I move out of home I will definitely be giving it a go once I can afford it. I don't want to jeapordize their health so until I can afford to buy special forumated vegan food I wouldn't risk cutting meat out of their diets completely.

Hey everyone,
We have a Vegan cook book for doggies called 'Love Of An Angel' that is free to download here - http://www.veganera.com/Resources.htm

We rescued our puppy when she was 6 months old, and has been Vegan ever since. She is just about to have her 4th birthday and looks so great. She has so much energy and always gets compliments where ever we go.
People always say how much of a beautiful nature she has and how shiny her coat is.

The only problem with doing this is that the dog would be lacking certain nutrients such as B12. So you would need to supplement the food, or feed in combination with a specially formulated vegan dog food.

My cavalier king charles spaniel follows a vegan diet, just like me & my family.

She loves the vegan sausages! but will eat whatever we cook for our meals.
