i def agree with feeding them a vegan diet if they enjoy it and its healthy. Same for us - why not do it if you can?
Mine switch between regular dry food & mush, and home - made vegan food. Occasioanally vegan dry food from online when i can afford.
My dogs love my veggie burgers, vegie mince/ sausages etc too, I give them weet-bix in the morning whch they adore and bread as a treat too.....love a bit of soy milk.
they pretty much eat what i eat along with the other stuff.
i used to feed my dog CHUM dog food haha now i am more educated and actually have the willing ness (is that even a word) if i get anew dog, to make it food and just store it in the fridge or freezer, i'de probably make rice and veggies for it ill eventually have to broaden my spectrum to get iron into it somehow.
Our cats eat Optimum biscuits and tend to paw away food from our plates throughout the day too.
They're pretty strange, they love anything from pumpkin and cashew soup to bean gumbos. And I'm a sucker for their sad faces so I tend to give them a small bowl when I'm having something. Unless it has onion or other things they can't have of course.
I do feel bad buying their food, but I have to remember that in the wild, they eat meat. And after talking to a vet about a strict vegan diet for them I decided for me personally I wouldn't feel safe doing it.
And our chickens eat our scraps. Leftover rice, noodles, beans, veggies etc. They also have pellets at all times but never seem too interested. They're always at the back door waiting for leftovers. Haha.
