My leather school have finally been completely destroyed!!! Yay! I would have attempted to throw them out but I don't like to be wasteful. Anyway mum bought me new leather shoes after I specifically told her not too. I got upset and she said "its not going to stop them killing cows."
Don't you hate agruements like these! I don't want to support the trade or wear dead animals on my feet!
I said this and thankfully she going to return them and get me some cheap vinyl ones from k-mart. (I am dancing around excitedly, next the woolen school uniform)
Has anyone else had arguments like these? Aren't they infuriating?
Ps. Doesn't anyone have any tips on the topic of dropping dairy? My mum is fully against it for my health and stuff. I am going to work up some courage and ask my nutritionist about. Hopefully she will say it fine or it is better for my health not to consume it, as if she says it is ok my mum will probably let me. But any tips will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
The best thing you can do before talking to your mum, or even your nutritionist is to do a bit of research for yourself. If you can show them that you know your facts and are going to do it well then your mum will be much more likely to accept your decision.
Actually, tell her that NOT wearing leather will STOP killing them.
And tell her that eating meat can INCREASE your risk of getting cancer and heart disease. If she doesn't believe you, direct her to the dozens of vegans guides out there.

I'm sure others will have some helpful tips for you as well.
100% right. If you are informed before you approach the topic, adults are more likely to listen. When I went vego originally mum thought it was a fad, and continued to cook me meat anyway, but then I started reading up on the topic, and gave informed arguments rather than emotional ones, but of course I ended with an emotional one, and she caved.
Parents usually give in when they realise how detrimental it can be to the relationship with their child if they're unsupportive. Good luck!
Yesterday my mom told me that I should not campaign against leather because I won't be able to stop it. Well thats why I started the campaign!
If every activist, animal or otherwise, had that same defeatist attitude, we would never make a difference to the world at all. But we have made a difference. And we will again. Her not buying you leather shoes will not have much of an impact on the leather industry, but the fact that the leather industry will have lost another customer is good news to my ears.

This is about why John Robbins gave up his inheritance to Baskin-Robbins family ice cream business and fortune to be dairy-free? There are many more interviews on this topic, try google it.
Thank you so much for the feedback!! I will check out those sites mentioned. I have actually researched the topic a bit but you can't always believe what the Internet says. Although I think it is true getting the facts from an milk hate site is not probably the best idea. Also getting in an argument about this scares me. Id rather not do it, ever.
Which is why if I can get the nutritionist to speak that will be great, becausemy mum will trust my nutritionist! Because she done all that study and whatnot. Personally I am trying not to take everyones advice, I think I'm a bit guillible at times. (I am working on it)
But if worst comes to worst I will face my mum. One of my favorite agruements if this happens 'it's not a choice for ever, I can always go back to dairy if it's too hard' ( same agrument I used for becoming a vegetarian)
Anyway stupid Kmart doesn't actually sell vinyl school shoes which is rather upsetting. Mum says I should just bite the bullet, if she can't find any. ( she is a good mum. She tries, we just have different opinions)
Anyway I am going to bite the bullet if she can't find any. By refusing to wear any leather ones and to suck it up and wear my old shoes. (Which are leather sadly. I was waiting for them to break like they have. But if I don't wear them theyll just go in the bin)
As for the Leather thing Kelsey1 said sadly I don't think that will happen. My mum cares a lot about being presentable and stuff. Which in nature I'm not. seems pointless to me.
But it is great she is accepting my views! And she has stopped bugging me about my clothing choices. (I want to buy sweat shop free btw know any brands??)
So thank you guys so much! I was freaking out before I read them. Sorry if I forgot anything
Maybe if you convince your mum to stop buying leather, she may convince someone and so on and so forth. Ignorance is our greatest problem.
Sorry I was talking about your idea not kelsy1's (stupid brain no work properly) But I will try your idea anyway. I may be surprised! (I have a rather fixed idea about my mum)
