I am so shocked at outsiders opinions of the RSPCA!
AFter doing work experience there for a week, I have decided to volunteer at the RSPCA.
The RSPCA are full of compassionate people dedicating their time to help animals.

Whilst working there, they told me all about the 62 dogs they had recently saved from a puppy factory.  The state these dogs had arrived in compared to what they were in now was amazing.  On top of that, these dogs would be there for 6-12 months instead of the usual 8-15 days because even after they did get better as they had to go through court cases etc.  This would mean that the staff and volunteers would need to dedicate more of their time to staying there because they now had an extra 62 dogs that they needed to take care of for such a long time.  And the thing was, not one person complained.

Ive seen some people complain about the staff, okay so yes, when I go in I do come accross some staff that arent the best with communication.  So what! Theyre there to help and care for the animals, not to impress anyone.

I just think people need to be a lot more considerate to the RSPCA for doing so well considering 97% of their funds come from US, as the government hardly give them any funds.

Sorry to vent, but I hope I have heped some people see the RSPCA in a better light!happy  We should all support each other as lets face it, we all have the same morals and thoughts on animal cruelty!

The RSPCA are good when it comes to companion animals - 90% of the time but when it comes to livestock ( horses, cows, pigs, sheep ect ) they are pathetic, they also use animal products to raise money for there organization ( cupcake day and the million paws walk with a BBQ and sausage sandwiches ) double standards much? This is why I don't support them and support organizations that arnt hypocrites

For all creatures great and small? It should be for all creatures cute and fluffy

The RSPCA is a good organisation, they do a lot of good for animals. But they do some bad things too.

I think as long as they are trying to help animals, then that's enough. You never know, they may be working towards helping more animals, you can't know everything.

Hi Loulou,

Thanks happy)  Burwood???  (i live in Burwood)
Maybe I will drop in and visit sometime.

PS ... I found the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful just really run off their feet trying to help as many people and animals as they can.

Keep up the good work.

They really are a great organisation but there are somethings which they really need to do, and somethings they really need to stop doing.

No organisation is perfect of course, but it'd be good for the RSPCA to step up its game.

Thats great that they rescued the dogs, but there are animals 10 times worse and the RSPCA did nothing to help the animals, for example the pigs and piglets that were suffering horrific acts of torture and abuse at Wally's Piggery and they had a opportunity to remove the animals from this horrible place but they chose to leave them there.

If it wasn't so far away for me to go there i would get as many pigs out of there as possible but the RSPCA were the only ones allowed to get the pigs out of there and they didn't, i could tell you hundreds of other stories the same as this.
