Whilst working there, they told me all about the 62 dogs they had recently saved from a puppy factory.
Thats great that they rescued the dogs, but there are animals 10 times worse and the RSPCA did nothing to help the animals, for example the pigs and piglets that were suffering horrific acts of torture and abuse at Wally's Piggery and they had a opportunity to remove the animals from this horrible place but they chose to leave them there.
If it wasn't so far away for me to go there i would get as many pigs out of there as possible but the RSPCA were the only ones allowed to get the pigs out of there and they didn't, i could tell you hundreds of other stories the same as this.
I'm not sure of the specific circumstances around that piggery but I'd doubt they just chose to leave animals there. They either wouldn't be allowed to remove the animals or they wouldn't have the resources to remove them.
I think everyone's a bit harsh on the RSPCA. They're not an animal liberation group. They're a partially government funded animal welfare group. If they did everything people suggest they should they'd instantly have their funding and powers stripped from them. They do a good job attracting media on duck shooting, jumps racing, puppy farming etc. which I think is probably pushing how far you can go with tax payer funding as it is.
I understand why people obviously prefer to support no kill shelters but there's just not enough resources for organisations of their size to operate that way. I know it sounds harsh but you've got to be realistic about it. The no kill shelters can only operate because the big groups take most of the animals.
The RSPCA get it wrong more often than not and are certainly not a non profit organization, government funds, donations, sponsorship, advertising, shop fronts and now pet insurance! I had to fight to get my 17year old dog back from them after they took him off my property, I had to pay a $1600 vet bill to take my dead dog home to bury him on my property. They put him in a cage and pumped him full of drugs and believe it or not the RSPCA has not got a cure for old age! they tore my family to bits taking my dog and now I am fighting them in court and they are using the money donated to them for a private law firm to convict me of failure to provide vet assistance! Nice use of funds and they tell lies.
