Bacon

They raised me in her faeces
In her blood and in our bones
Caged us from the sunlight
And I whisper up alone
I am someone’s brother, someone’s cousin, someone’s son

Take my teeth so I can’t chew
Paint my skin with fire
Feed us till we cannot walk
And again I try to say
But I am someone’s brother, someone’s cousin, someone’s son

You pray us with your poisons
And lace it in our feed
Then you cart us into trucks and ships
And I say it louder still
But I am someone’s brother, someone’s cousin, someone’s son!

It’s days and weeks of painful grief
Alas, we know no other
We stand so not to break our friends
And I whisper to the wind
But I am someone’s brother, someone’s cousin, someone’s son

We are hearded from our prison
Then pushed into another
I hear the screams, I smell the pain and to you all I cry
But I am someone’s brother, someone’s cousin, someone’s son!

We are shoved onto conveyer belts
As you zap us in our eyes
I am voiceless in my screaming
And STILL I call it louder
But I am someone’s brother, someone’s cousin, someone’s son!

My legs have been tied up
Though I struggle as I could
There is murder all around me
And I scream, and I scream,
But I am someone’s brother, someone’s cousin, someone’s son!

And then my nightmare’s over
As flesh, and soul divide
But still we are not heard
And so I whisper gently
I was someone’s brother, someone’s cousin, someone’s son.
