Hi guys,
has anyone else written to McDonalds and Hungry Jacks about factory farming and got a response.
This is the reply i got from McDonalds:
Thank you for your email.
At McDonald’s we take very seriously our responsibility to ensure that the animals in our supply chain are properly cared for. All of our animal health and welfare standards meet or exceed all Australian requirements and we have a comprehensive audit program that includes independent third party auditors.

We are working with all of our pork suppliers to assess their future plans for pig housing.

We are closely following a US study by the Coalition for Sustainable Egg Supply comparing traditional, cage-free and enriched laying hen house systems. We will also evaluate a trial of cage free eggs currently underway by McDonald’s New Zealand.

Vivien

My email was mostly cage-hen related. This is the response that I received.

"Dear Sally,

Thank you for your enquiry to our website. Over the past few years, McDonald’s Australia has investigated a move from cage to free eggs, including extensive customer research and a trial in New Zealand which is still ongoing. To date we have not seen a significant response from customers that would support making a move forward at this time and more work needs to be done to ensure that a change in this area is right for our suppliers, our business and our customers.

This is not to say that cage free systems do not remain an area of focus for us.  We are continuing to investigate opportunities in this area here in Australia and we continue to monitor customer sentiment and industry standards both locally and globally.  We will also continue to ensure that our suppliers adhere to our strict animal welfare guidelines that are key to maintaining healthy and humanely-handled animals in our supply chain.

I got the exact same response as you KateP from McDonalds... Nothing from Hungry Jacks. But like Prof Gary L. Francione said, I don't think there is anything such as 'happy meat'.....

Don't believe them.
Why would Mcdonalds tell the truth? How is them saying "Oh no, we don't care for the animals welfare and your health as long as we continue to make money" going to benefit them? They'll just lose you as a customer if they haven't lost you already.
Sorry if I sound mean. That was not my intention.
I got a similar email to that. Possibly the same.

same, I worded mine quite strongly, so I'm not surprised.. but really, no response at all is weak.
Yeah it's down right pathetic. The responses are contradicting anyway, so whilst a response at all is really a waste of time, it isn't good enough to not be given one.

Did anyone word theirs fairly lightly?
