na, i like the way i eat. but i'd like for others to consider it (those who already eat meat)...as the guy on the telly was saying, that we're at our maximum with beef farming and that lab grown could solve the food crisis...then they were asking people for their opinion and some guy said something like he wouldnt want to put it in his body...
assuming hes a meat eater = DUDE!!! .... like how is that worse/.
it's such a waste of money and resources and animals were still harmed in the process... why would you when theres healthy, tasty plant based alternatives already
It's very interesting. I would at least consider it. Although it's very hard to say without it being more than theoretical at this point. It probably won't be a commercial product for a decade or two.
Presumably from an environmental point of view it would have to be a boon, although that's difficult to say.
If anyone's interested in reading further opinions on the topic Peter Singer wrote a brief article for the Guardian on the subject.
Unfortunately, the cells are grown in a medium that is supplemented with Fetal Bovine Serum (a fraction of cows blood) and is a bi-product of the meat industry. So no matter how much they try, it will never be vegan or even vegetarian until they manage to grow the cells a different way.
I wouldn't eat it because it doesn't sound healthy and I don't need a "meat" in my diet - or anything meat like. I don't eat any meat substitutes at all, "mock" meats or tofu I am referring to.
I think it could be good for those who still need to hold onto that idea - however peta I assume would be pushing for this so that animals would no longer be farmed etc, but I really don't see it catching on that well, when people don't care about what they are eating or about the animals, they aren't going to go off trying new things and giving up what they are used to. Plus, would it be more expensive than meat or cheaper, because that's a big factor. People don't tend to like change, and asking them to look at their lifestyle and change it generally will take a lot of time to successfully do, or at all.
