Just received an email from Animal Liberation Victoria outlining how a puppy mill in the state is applying for a massive expansion that will allow it to carry up to 300 breeding dogs.
Here is the report:
Gary Jones has applied for a Planning Permit to increase the capacity of his existing puppy farm from 100 to 300 dogs. The description he gives in his application paints a grim picture for the dogs. He claims the expansion will create jobs within the community - but at what cost to the animals trapped in small enclosures pumping out puppies? Through years of investigating puppy farms ALV has documented how dogs are used as breeding machines, producing puppies in back to back cycles before being killed when they are no longer economically profitable.
You can email objections to the Wellington Shire council:
he says it will create jobs, but i'm not so sure anyone would be willing to face that misery each day in the name of it being "just a job".... other than the sociopaths of course.
does anyone know where the wellington shire council is? if anyone lives around there, i'd definitely think about designing a leaflet targetting the proposal and doing a letterbox drop.
i saw sumthing like that on RSPCA animal rescue. i dont know how people can let their dogs live in conditions like these. its like torture for animals. its cruelty. and the RSPCA don't have enuf power to stop this. they dont have enuf power to fine these poeple and fine them hard. puppy mills suck and i reckon everyone should buy their dog from the pound. save its life maybe. its much better than supporting Pupy Mills by buying their puppies.
its awful.
the RSPCA really should have more power!

Matt, the puppy farm is down in Heyfield (near Sale) in Gippsland. Objections have to ideally be in by Friday, although they may be considered after this time. Please everyone, send an email to the council, get your friends and family to as well if you can, these puppy farms are horrible places and we do not want these people getting a permit for an extra 200 breeding dogs!
