do you need permission to hand out flyers in the city?

hi guys, i have ordered flyers from this site aswell have printed off some petitions. i just wanted to ask do you need special permission to hand them out in public/ ask people to sign the petitions? like i was thinking to hand them out around federation square (melbourne) this weekend!! thanks happy

You don't.
With the petitions, try to get some which are already up to date and currently being used as you don't want to make another one and start from scratch. There will be one somewhere.

is the petition from this site the one to get hungry jacks to ban the use of sow stalls and battery cages up to date??? i dont really know many others
