I am often confronted with questions like "what is so bad about chicken?", "why don't you drink cow's milk?", etc etc. I try to explain but usually my friends will say, "oh here comes another lecture", or "I don't want to hear!" What are some good summarising answers to their questions? Thanks thumb

Lol have you tried the most easiest yet mind boggling of them all; when someone asks why don't you drink milk? Answer: 'why DO you?' Or 'whats so bad about chicken?' Answer: 'what's so good about it?' they can't explain why apart from silly things like they enjoy the taste or they need nutrients ect which it always helps to just reply with a cute LITTLE remark like 'clearly you've done your homework on the topic?' (Add slight sarcasism) Which will make them want to find out all about it happy because now they feel stupid...this way your not sitting there 'lecturing' wink them (funny how they ask a question you answer it yet your 'lecturing' them lol almost like they are intentionally having a slight poke at you by trying to make you feel like you have done something wrong by lecturing them aka pushing ones beliefs)

Also people have recommended a book 'but you kill ants' not sure if it has stuff that will help as people have usually said this book helps when dealing with rude people that just make up silly excuses, not sure if it provides a view on what to say to silly friends and their silly comments (without lecturing) - but have a read anyways I say happy

"Because an baby cow died just so you could drink it" works for me. Simple but effective! I generally find that friends who ask these questions aren't the most intelligent of people, don't overwhelm them with rhetorical questions or long-winded responses. :p

Hey, Maddie45, thats a good one! I usually say stuff about how the dairy industry is cruel because of bobby calves, but making it more direct like that is awesome!

Pardon me, please don't take this the wrong way (not intended as a personal attack) but doesn't this comment just open the door for a 'lecture' thus it isn't very direct because it doesn't answer the whole question... If your friends aren't 'that intelligent' then they wouldn't have a clue as to why a baby cow would be killed for milk... Thus it would cause them to shut off and think your the idiot lol if you are to use such remarks it would only work for people whom know the dairy industry an know of the baby's being killed so then the mother can continue to produce the milk that is stollen from her; the baby is consider as a 'waste product' that has no meaning other then to enable the mother to produce milk and then to die at 4 days old...

This is what I use and it is very useful. I say that, they ask why, I explain shortly.

Exactly, it's a thought provoking statement. It plays on people's curiosity and generally gains their interest.
