Hi sinkronicity,
I source my Meat from free ranged farms for my Cats and Ferret, Even though i am vegan myself i would never consider placing them on a veg diet as they are natural carnivores. I 100% agree with The British Aussie as i am too trained to be a vet nurse and i understand a Cats dietary needs. I would highly suggest to search or visit a free ranged farm and see how you feel about the animals living conditions and make a decision for your self

Best of Luck.
I have heard of success stories where cats have had success with vegan diets. I think its more the nutrients derived from the food sources rather than the food sources themselves that is important.
They are from all reports a tougher case than dogs though. My dog is vegan and is going very well on it so far (2 years).
I had someone tell me that I was being cruel to my dog for feeding him food with beans, chickpeas, lentils, kale, vegetables etc. When I see the disgusting gluggy rubbish that is in the cans he gives to his dogs I beg to differ on who is being cruel.
