I am international student in Australia..and I love animals!!!!
I grew up in a family who loved their meat and when I decided to stop (when I saw the reality), many said I would not stick by it, well it is almost two years now! I feel great and I am happy that I am not contributing to the repulsive factory farming industry. I hate to see animals being treated like they feel nothing. I am doing it all for the animals!
I try to convince people to reduce their meat intake and by that I mean to eventually give it up altogether and so far I have influenced some family and friends to see the reality of what the animals go through before they become food on their platters.
I recently stopped eating fish. I am slowly trying to replace dairy and egg products with alternatives.
I am also a designer and no matter how much I adore fashion I can't stand ignorant designers who are willing to put through thousand of animals through horrific and cruel treatments just to make something fancy with fur! Utterly unacceptable!
I also use products that are animal friendly, mineral makeup and natural organic products are good, just make sure they state that it has not been tested on animals.
Although this is not about animals, I am also going to put in a word for 'FAIRTRADE' products.Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. Next time you are buying tea or coffee...look for the 'fairtrade' logo. You will be happy knowing these local farmers are paid properly and are not exploited for our own benefit
