What dark secret could be lurking behind the carton of milk in the fridge? The dairy industry is responsible for sending over 700,000 unwanted baby calves to slaughter every year. And new proposed laws again reveal that the welfare of these calves doesn't rate on their priority list. Speak out for these baby calves today!
Many people may not guess it, but there is a dark side to the dairy industry. Something they don't want you to see – the 700,000 'bobby' calves who are discarded as 'waste products' of the industry each year.
And as if things weren't bad enough for bobby calves already, now the dairy industry is pushing to make it legal to starve them of feed for 30 hours before being slaughtered. They would normally suckle milk from their protective mothers 5 times a day. But instead that milk ends up in cartons on supermarket shelves and the calves will end up hungry, weak and frightened, at the slaughterhouse.
If you find this cruel treatment of baby calves hard to swallow, then take a stand! Please tell Dairy Australia that you won't accept the callous treatment of feeling animals as mere 'waste products'.
