Most eggs and meat products sold in Australian supermarkets come from factory farms, where animals endure severe confinement and undergo surgical procedures without pain relief -- practices that would be cruelty offences if the victims were instead dogs or cats. Please ask our major supermarkets to lead the way and help improve the lives of animals by refusing to support this cruelty!
The factory farming expose on 60 Minutes and our recent TV ads brought the hidden suffering of pigs in factory farms to the attention of over a million Australians. Many viewers were shocked to learn of barbaric routine practices such as confining mother pigs in tiny crates so small that they cannot even turn around -- practices already banned or being phased out in many civilised countries.
The two biggest financial supporters of factory farming in Australia are Coles and Woolworths. They have the buying power to influence much needed change by not supporting producers that use cruel practices such as sow crates and battery cages.
Please take a moment to ask Woolworths and Coles to use their purchasing power to improve the lives of animals. Your message need only be a few lines but it will provide an important call for change. As a valued customer, your views are considered important by Coles and Woolworths.
