Most certainly greyhound racing is unethical it is dependent on inherent cruel practices for it's financial viability.
The culling of puppies that fail to chase the mechanical lure or are too slow to make the grade.
The destruction of greyhounds that sustain minor treatable injuries simply because its more economical to replace that dog with a fit - healthy young dog.
The destruction of healthy greyhounds simply because its more economical to destroy the dog rather than spend time and money finding a suitable retirement home.
For me the most cruel aspect of greyhound racing are the tracks these dogs are forced to run on. Tracks with long straights and tight bends and with 5,6 or 7 other dogs - its a recipe for disaster.
Greyhounds love to run but they are trained to race and dont enjoy being confined to small - dark and damp kennels 23 hours of the day.
It's disgusting.
