The council members of the Sunshine Coast are not listening to the communities of whom they represent. Council are contemplating changing our NEW town planning scheme to accommodate giant Japanese development company Sekisui House's proposal of a billion dollar development project, inclusive of numerous innapropriate high-rise towers in our sleepy little beachside town at Yaroomba Beach, near Noosa. The community is fighting it strongly and is urging council to maintain the current height of 4 stories.
The site is also a very important nesting site for the already endangered loggerhead turtle. The artificial lighting produced by such a huge development will cause the hatchlings to become disorientated and they will perish. Please sign and share this petition to help us send a clear message to council! Our beautiful environment needs to be valued and preserved, not sold to foreign corporations for financial gain.
