I hate the thought of animal testing, it makes me feel sick. In my opinion the testing should be done on people that are on death row, all the disgusting people that can't be trusted. I know a lot of people might think that thats wrong but how can an innocent animals life be worth less than people who have commited horrible crimes?! Also the tests would be more accurate as a rats and other animals that are tested on are hardly like humans while testing on a human well it makes sense.I believe that animals have more of a right to be here than we do, it isn't the animals that are destroying the planet it's the stupid human race!! Does anyone else share the same view or am i the only person thats ever thought of this? bump

Wow, little harsh, heh.

I don't think testing on people who are on death row would be a good idea (let alone the fact we don't have the death penalty in australia) There aren't that many of them for starters, and I don't see how that is different to testing on animals.. Humans are animals too. Some people have mental issues that cause them kill other people and they shouldn't really be punished like that (punished, certainly, but rehabilitated at the same time)

I think we should just focus on legislating against animal testing first in the cosmetics/"beauty" industry because I think at this stage the general public would welcome a change like that, then it will be time to move on to the medical testing industry, but, baby steps wink

I don't know about ppl on death row, I think they should still have the right to say no, but at least they can be offered!

They now have DNA that they don't even need to test on animals or ppl. Animal testing is wrong and inaccurate. We both have different DNA so even if they find a cure in a rat with cancer it's not neccessarily the same result in ppl.

Should we then test on dogs taken by the council because they've attacked other animals?

Animals feel pain just like us. Testing on a hardened criminal against their will would be just as cruel, horrible and useless as testing on a caged beagle against their will. Vivisection, regardless of who it is done on, is a stupid science and a gross injustice.

Anyway, if you read some scientists' opinions on vivisection, we don't need any of it. Which is a relief as it means we not only have the moral high ground to end it, but also the scientific high ground.

Also, like vivisection, sanctioned execution by the State (i.e. the death penalty) to me is just as disgusting and sad. Thank goodness we don't have it in Australia -- for the humans at least.

oh and alsoooo, in regard to maybe testing on other criminals in Australia -- for not only the purpose of science, but also as a form of punishment-- as Gandhi said: "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." Couldn't have said it better myself tongue

Why don't we just use alternatives? There are many, MANY other, more accurate ways to test new drugs, such as; Chemical assay tests,Tissue culture systems,Cell and organ cultures,Cloned human skin cells,Human skin patches,Computer and mathematical models, and of course, micro-dosing.

I do share you view though, especially about the human race.

THe human race IS one hell of a race, we created war, violence, sexism, racism, specieism, polluted the planet, and many, many more.

Once this world was a beautiful place, a happy place,

Then we became greedy.

Now don't get me wrong, there are some great humans out there, and ot all the human race is bad. It just seems the majority of the human race is ignorant and simple turn their heads at problems, having a "If I didn't see it, It didn't happen!" attitude.

Just my opinion,

But there are brilliant humans out there, and they are the ones you should truly cherish.

there's really no need for testing of any kind of animal, but if scientists believed that they might have a cure for cancer chances are some people with cancer would volunteer for a cure.

If more people knew how to avoid animal tested products less would buy them, people want to be able to get things easily no one puts on there products "this product was tested on animals" but thats what people are looking for. Most people know that there is animal testing but not many know where it is.

in regards to death row, I once saw a show about people on death row and some who are appealing their sentence, a lot of people on death row are wrongfully convicted, I'm not saying there innocent but they didn't deserve the sentence, there was one story were there are these three guys who go planning to rob a store, two robbers one look-out. it became a robbery gone bad and the store clerk died, the robbers got life, the look-out got death. I can't remember for sure but i think he had a couple misdemeanors on his record but nothing regarding violence, so most people on death row are only there because of status and not being able to afford competent defence.
also just because your in prison doesn't mean your bad, yeah there are a lot of people who are dangerous and deserve to be in there, but there are a lot of reason's people go to jail.

i dont think anyone or anything should have things tested on them if they dont want to. if technology these days is that great that we can we can make a phone help us remember where we parked or a car that can run of rubbish then surely we can find out a way to test products in a lab with microscopes of something.

no offence but to the people who say humans lifes are less worthy than animals cause we kills this and destroy that and blah blah blah, well that is seriously sick. isnt the point of being vegetarian is to put out a mesage that everyone and everythings life are equal ?

Excuse my ignorance, but is this where stem-cell research comes in?? As in, they can use grown stem cells for medical testing purposes? I don't really know much about it..
