update on Beagle puppy farm in Hull England - Morrissey gets involved!
"B&K Universal have called music legend Morrissey "laughable and ill informed" after he called upon the Govt. to scrap plans for their laboratory beagle breeding expansion. The original Grimston local resident (turned national) campaign 'Oppose B&K Universal' have responded to B&K's insults with the help of top science experts Drs Greek and Menache, who call for a thorough public medical debate hearing in order to expose B&K's false claims - that such animal experiments can 'predict' the responses of human patients. It's time for B&K Universal to stop slinging mud and step into this medical debate arena to face their qualified scientific opposition. "

update - There has been good and bad news this year for Beagles used in Laboratories and for us at Run Free Alliance.
In July we reeled from the shock announcement that planning permission had been granted to B&K Universal Ltd in Hull to enable them to breed an additional 2000 Beagles for use in laboratories.
The Home office statistics for 2014 were produced in a different format making it very difficult to form a year on year comparison of their use. We do know 2589 dogs (majority of which are Beagles) were euthanized after use in UK.
The good news is that we became the only UK Charity advocating for the care and welfare of Beagles in UK Laboratories and have since been recognised by HMRC to claim Gift Aid (25%) on donations made by UK taxpayers.
