October 5th EOCA launches the public voting on what project in the “Nature” category to receive a 30 000 EURO (about 45 000 Aus Dollars) contribution. Now it is a good time to take action during two weeks while the voting is open. We would like as many as possible to vote for “Protecting Old-growth Forests, Sweden”, so please share the video and vote at
yep, the Government sets up a goal to protect so much forested areas and then has to admit it can n't meet those goals. Ho hum! But the promise was so sincere and well meaning ...
Then just to add a nice twist, Swedens biggest forest owner (Sveaskog http://www.sveaskog.se/en/about-sveaskog/sveaskog-in-brief/ ) is .. the Government!
On 21 June 2014, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee’s rejected the Coalition Government's request to delist Tasmania’s new World Heritage forests so they could be logged. The decision sends a clear message to the Tasmanian state government, which wants to log other iconic forests, such as the Blue Tier, Tarkine, Bruny Island, Tasman, Reedy Marsh and the North-East Highlands
“Protecting Old-Growth Forests, Sweden” is in the lead in the category “Nature” in the EOCA public vote. What we do together works! Keep on sharing our website, our facebookpages and our Gif-animation on the front page as a banner, don’t forget to link it to http://www.outdoorconservation.eu/project-voting-category.cfm?catid=3
and invite everyone to vote for the old-growth forest! 12 days to go!
We won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"We thank everyone out there in cyberspace taking your valuable time to vote and share, every little part of this campaign was generated completely without a cent put into it. All effort is by volunteer power and generated all those € 30 000 that will now be resting in the forest floor of Iglekärr Old-Growth Forest forever."
Great work! A bit of the planet will be untouched and for all to enjoy.
Iglekärr forest (70 hektar) has been saved for the foreseeable future. It's beside an exsisting nature reserve so it'll expand the protected area. The news is so new they have not posted in English yet, but here's the Facebook page anyway - see https://www.facebook.com/naturarvet.in.english
