I’ve just found out that a public body - Natural Resources Wales (NRW) - is planning to expand the number of sites that it rents out for the ‘sport’ shooting of pheasants and partridges. These are birds who have been specifically reared to be used as nothing more than feathered targets.
NRW should be practising good stewardship of the countryside on behalf of the Welsh people, rather than leasing its land for the killing of birds for ‘sport’.
