Retail giant GUESS continues to sell angora despite knowing that in order to obtain it, workers rip the fur out of rabbits' skin as the animals scream in pain. Rabbits who have their fur cut or sheared also suffer greatly: Their front and back legs are tethered tightly—a terrifying experience for any prey animal—and they are stretched out on boards or suspended in the air. The cutting tools inevitably wound the rabbits as they struggle to escape. Afterward, these highly sensitive and social animals are left in shock—they lie motionless inside their tiny, filthy cages, where they are denied bedding and solid flooring.
More than 110 retailers around the world, including Gap Inc., French Connection, H&M, and Express, are now angora-free. Please urge GUESS to follow in the footsteps of its compassionate competitors and stop selling angora.
