First - some light and angering reading:

Some of you may or may not have been aware of the trade of Australian native animals as pets in the USA.

The heartbreaking trade means the animals are force bred (much like the awful puppies farms) and the joey's are removed from the mothers at around 6 months, weaned and 'shipped' to their new homes.

Some of the articles above show some of the misinformed care information for these animals provided to new owners.

It would be great to see an investigation into the industry and pressure put on to stop this trade and let natives be wild.

What is it with Americans being so keen on using wildlife as child substitutes ? A pathological, misdirected urge to reconnect with Mother Nature, perhaps ? A desire to control it by imposing a human lifestyle on it ?
Whatever may be at the bottom of it, it is sick, sic, sick....

The awful phrase "fur babies" says it all.
