BE A VOICE FOR AUSTRALIAN WILDLIFE!

Help SAVE the wildlife and CLOSE #KoalaParkSanctuary in West Pennant Hills, Sydney

RALLY: Tuesday 23rd February, 2016
11.30am (with no set end time)
Martin Place (cnr Macquarie Street), Sydney

We, the public, must stand united to send an urgent message to the NSW Government and Australia that animal abuse will not be tolerated -- the wildlife of #KoalaParkSanctuary need us to be their voice, if they are to be saved!

Bring your signs/banners and have your voice heard -- NOW is the time to stand united and make a change for our native Australian Wildlife!

With the support of The Hon. Mark Pearson, MLC from The Animal Justice Party – we are requesting that NSW Premier Mike Baird and The Hon. Niall Mark Blair, MLC who have the power under “section 30 (1) (a) of the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986” cancel the park's licence and finally give freedom to the abused wildlife of #KoalaParkSanctuary.

Key Speaker on the day:
- Mark Pearson from the Animal Justice Party

24 Feb 2016 — Footage from Parliament's Question Time where Mark Pearson from the Animal Justice Party once again asks Niall Blair to take action and free the wildlife of #KoalaParkSanctuary.

"After presenting Niall Blair with a petition with over 25000 signatures, a public rally and a court conviction, justice is still being denied to the animals who suffered, died and are still suffering under the watch of the Koala Park Sanctuary.
I again questioned Niall Blair, who's department secretary right now could close this place down with the strike of a pen. His response is again disappointing to say the least."

Update - http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/the-hills/park-appeals-against-sentence/news-story/b481ff885da6d1bf281125b2531d9094

The Koala Park Sanctuary has lodged an appeal against the sentence for failing to provide veterinary treatment to five of its koalas.

The park pleaded guilty to three charges of failing to provide veterinary treatment in November and was fined $20,000 plus $54,996 in costs last month.

The park was also banned from acquiring any further koalas for six months.

The charges related to five koalas that were found by an RSPCA inspector to be showing signs of chlamydia, and each charge carried a maximum penalty of $27,500.

The appeal will be heard at Parramatta District Court on March 31.

Meanwhile, the Department of Primary Industries said it will work with the park to ensure it complied with issued directions

I can't make it for the rally, but here's hoping for a good turnout for the cause! I can only imagine what might happen in some of the wildlife reserves if we don't have more people coming out of storage to show their concern for our animals Down Under!
