Hello,

I just started the petition "Minister for agriculture and water resources: Ban mulesing immediately and mandate declarations" and wanted to see if you could help by adding your name.

update - Lambs cannot scream, so we must scream for them. Each year millions of Australian lambs suffer the needless agony of mulesing. Let's give a voice to every one of them! Thank you so much for adding your voice & please promote others to do likewise by promoting this petition via social media or email. Even Australian shearers want mulesing stopped http://www.stockandland.com.au/story/3296239/shearers-mulesing-crackdown
"The uproar around mulesing hit headlines in 2004, when People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) launched a campaign to boycott Australian wool products if farmers mulesed their sheep."
"Our reality is that mulesing is necessary for animal health and production but that is lost on the likes of people in New York, London and Stockholm, they see the Peta video and step away from buying wool products and move towards the cotton or synthetic (products) because they have a perceived idea that wool is not humane -their perception is not our reality.

"While (the mulesing procedure occurs) we will always run dangerously to the rest of the global market who will have images of something that is an unfavourable portrayal of wool growing in Australia."

Quote by a non-mulesing farmer: "Farmers always say when you stop mulesing everything is going to get flyblown. Actually, we've found the reverse here because once you've stopped mulesing, you've got to really tighten up management, and make sure the sheep can't get flyblown; either treated with chemical or freshly crutched.

"When they were mulesed you thought mules stopped most of the fly problem and you don't bother so much. So that's a bit of a furphy about the flystrike, we've had less flystrike since we stopped mulesing. "
