HI all,
For those of you who are thinking about a bit of activism this weekend, please come and join us in the Bourke St Mall from 11:30 on Saturday and 11am on Sunday, as we make a one last ditch effort at educating the melbourne public about the crulety of factory farming before they tuck into their Christmas lunches and dinners.
We are looking for extra volunteers to really drive this message home! If you can come on saturday, please meet at the top of the mall (corner of Bourke and Swantson on the Body Shop side) at 11:30. Katy and jack will be running this leafleting session and it is expected to go for 3 hours. You do not need to stay that long, whatever time you can put in will help. We'll have posters and leaflets!
On Sunday, if you are interested, please meet me (natasha) at the top of the mall (corner of Bourke and Swantson on the Body Shop side) at 11:00am. Again, we are looking to run for 3 hours. We will also have posters and leaflets and Lucy pig as well as a special guest appearance from Hamish, the little piggy from Edgars Mission (
www.edgarsmission.org.au).
Yes, you read correctly, Pam Ahern, founder and director of the sanctuary, is hoping to get away from looking after the 150 animal residents to bring Hamish into the city...to introduce the Melb folk to a real little piggy. What better way to get people really thinking about extending that circle of compassion to include all animals, then to introduce them to one of the most charismatic piggy that I have ever met (aside from Edgar of course!).
So, if you really like to potentially make a difference to the lives of animals this Christmas, and especially those in factory farms, please come along and help us spread the real meaning of Christmas.
If you can make it on Sunday, and have not let me know, please reply by return email -
Thanks for all you do for the animals!
Cheers
Tash
