I can't say I'm the biggest fan of naming vegan products after there similar animal flesh equivalent. I believe it might be better if a direction was taken to name these products there own unique things. Possibly a spin on the core ingredient/ingredients used. I honestly believe more meat eaters will be more open to trying them also, as often faux meats are looked at as a fake like food. I'd be happy to see no more vegan chicken, beef branding etc. At the moment it might be not such a bad thing, but I hope it changes over time. Ultimately I want what is best for the animals in the end and I think this would be better.

Any thoughts???

I wish they would just call it what it is, soya, tofu, whatever!

Smat is the new attempt at a buzzword. "Smart food" as in climate smart, enviro smart etc. Also accidently vegan sometimes.

I think cashew cheese just tastes like cashew spread - it's tasty, cashews are tasty, but it's not cheese. There are plenty of these examples.

I agree that because of the label some people expect it to taste like the animal-version and it doesn't so they think it's inferior.

Sometimes it's still tasty, just different. That goes for soy milk, etc. but I guess we're past that.

Another example: I went to a vegan place for lunch with a couple of meat-eaters. They chose something they were intrigued by, and thennnn, the idea to them that some shavings of toasted coconut could be called bacon?? Like, why even do that. If it was just toasted coconut, fine no problem, coconut is tasty. All expectations met. But "bacon"?? Not even close.
