If you haven't heard of Freelee the Banana Girl, she's a long-time Youtuber who has reached many many people and made many new vegans with her advice on a raw wholefoods diet given to as many people as she can. Many people hate her, both vegan and non-vegan, because our society is so sick that we think that giving advice about health and bringing light to the torture and slaughter of animals is somehoe bad. Sure she swears a lot but she actually isn't mean, she is a powerful voice of change and justice.
The situation is bigger than her though. Her channel, and many other vegan channels - including very small ones - are being threatened with false copyright claims. If you look at the law of Fair Use then you can see that it is unlawful. And so many people could be silenced by this. I think that if these channels are deleted, that they will become like martyrs. But that isn't good enough. Go tell everyone, go tell Blogilates to stop this. Ask her why she is doing this. And explain that meat-eating is NOT an opinion, it is a dangerous delusion that is so so close to destroying the entire planet.
Even if you disagree with the way Freelee does things, we can't let in-fighting silence us. So many activists are at threat here, and we need as many as we can get.
A dangerous charlatan fighting science and promoting eating disorder.
Freelee is a terrible role model for everyone and I am particularly concerned about her influence over younger women who might have been fighting eating disorder and are interested in veganism who stumble upon her unhealthy guidelines.
Regardless of whether she is a vegan or not, giving medical advice to people should be done responsibly with an individual consultation. General advice is one thing (don't drink paint thinner! for example ) but people with serious problems should look beyond a nutritionist.
I've personal experience of people meaning well, but causing prolonged suffering due to an over-belief in diets.
"I have always strived to be my best" is a worrying statement, or red flag to me. It reeks of over-achievers who do everything 100% regardless of how irrational it seems. Too much is not always better! Best what? Banana seller of the year?
And why do women have to post photos of themselves in their underwear to promote their diet plans or Youtube channel? It just looks like very sad old-fashioned porn to me - the eyes give it away - no joy..
