Hey

I was wondering what the consensus was about eating the eggs of chickens that you have in your backyard.

I've recently moved in to a house that has pet chickens, I think they're really cool and take good care of them and they have become quite tame.

Excuse me if this question is an obvious question, I'm new to veganism, but i was wondering everyone's thoughts, is it OK to eat their eggs?

Ta very much, Alissa

A vegan would not eat them but a vegetarian might.

I think that it's absolutely ok to eat eggs from your own chickens! If there's no rooster around they're not being fertilised, and they are such a valuable source of protein+ nutrients. So long as they're well treated I say go for it!!!

That said, if you're eating eggs then you're not really classifiable as a 'vegan'- you're an ethical ovo-vegetarian happy
