I used to eat meat, and my family still does. I know it can be hard sometimes if you're surrounded by uninspired carnivores... But, tofu can be cooked in so many different ways that there is no need to feel 'left out'! (But if your family doesn't know how to prepare tofu, then, perhaps I can understand where you're coming from).

Try some marinated tofu (you can find satay, malaysian, japanese and other ready-made marinated varieties at the supermarket) or fried tofu... yum happy

Seriously, tofu done-well will make those predictable meat-eaters at your table crave for something more interesting like what's on your plate!

That said, if you have cravings for meat then there are so many cruelty-free options for you happy Veggie schnitzel, veggie mince, nuggets, fake bacon rashers, burger patties, veggie fish... you name it. All at your supermarket. You don't have to miss out happy

Nope! Australia. I've only just moved to South Australia (from Brisbane).

That sucks that your family teases you! sad I know how hard that can be. With time they will realise that you've made a life-decision. Stick to it, and remember that every meat-free meal is a gift of kindness to animals!

I study Indonesian at school and have learned that much of their culture is based around food, in alot of cases, tofu, because some cant afford meat on a regular basis.

So there are HEAPS of ways tofu can be cooked. Its pretty flexible in terms of 'cooking'.
Heres one recipe that I discovered while doing an indo culture research assignment about 3 months ago. I make it sooo many times now:

In a bowl mix a fair amount of kecap manis (the thick, sweet soy sauce), some kecap asin (the salty soy sauce), crushed garlic, some 'bumbu-bumbu' (spices) like corriander and cumin, and a tablespoon of vinegar.

Cut some firm tahu (tofu) into 3cm cubes and put into the bowl with the mixture to marinate on the fridge for at least 3 hours... preferebly overnight. It should be a dark brown colour when its done.

Pop the cubes onto metal skewers. Use about 3 tablespoons of the remaining mixture and mix with some peanut butter a little bit of tomatoe sauce. Drop some of this mixture onto the skewers and cook in the oven (on a baking tray & baking paper) for about 20minutes.

The result is heaps yummo.

yeah, i reckon if you fed 'em to a meat-eater they wouldn't be able to tell it's not real meat.

Also I noticed that on your profile you're 11 years old. That was about the same age that I turned vegetarian, more than 4 years ago. Yep, it was a little bit difficult at first but trust me, after a while it gets heaps better.
The key is finding yourself ample vegetarian meals that are both nutricious and yum. Look on the internet, buy or borrow some cooking books, maybe even go to a vegetarian restaurant.
If youre having any difficulties at all, just message anyone on these forums. We've all been there happy
