Hi all, I am new to this site happy

I have been an on-off vegetarian since childhood. I am now living alone and as I have more control over my life, I have been vegetarian for five months now again and find it really great as someone who didn't like meat to begin with and stands by supporting against animal cruelty.

I am wanting to make the change to be vegan. I don't eat cheese, however, I am trying to drink soy milk rather than diary after researching more on the horrific ways cows and calves are treated for their milk, as well as the egg industry. I am finding it difficult to cut on diary and egg products. Not sure if its where I live, in Tasmania Aus, but there aren't much options.

If I want a choc fix, I go for Sweet William's as its a diary-free vegan option. I have tried Fry's vegan range (which I love). My main issue is cutting out diary. I'll think something is vegan, only to check the packet and see it may contain milk which throws my vegan attempts out of whack.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this? Also is soy milk good in coffee? I am finding it curdles which is frustrating. Any helpful hints would be much appreciated! happy

Heating the soy milk will likely only result in more coagulation, but allowing the coffee to cool slightly seems to temper the effects. Vigorously shaking the soy milk before pouring can also help (but make sure the cap's on that thing before shaking). Many brands of soy milk have also added stabilizers to prevent this from happening.

If you're using instant coffee, reduce the amount of water and increase the amount of soy milk. There is a ratio of soy milk to hot water that doesnt curdle. I find that pouring in boiled water about 2/3 then adding soy milk works best
