International Demonstration for Lolita the Orca

Hey guys!
There's an international demonstration planned for Saturday May 15 2010, by Orca Network (http://www.orcanetwork.org/) to free Lolita, an orca taken from her family and forced into a life of captivity. I know the date seems pretty far off, but the demonstration is still being planned out, but I will update with more details closer to the date.

Other protests will be located in Canada, New Zealand, Chicago, Miami, Seattle, and possibly San Diego, New York, Orlando, and Norfolk. If anyone is interested please let me know. (i've been asked to organise it but tbh i don't really know how, plus i'm not connected with many activists in my area).

Also, if anyone interstate (outside Victoria) is interested in organising a protest for Lolita as well, that'd be awesome. All you have to do is gather a group of people, whether it be 3 or 30, and hand out leaflets and hold posters.

Again, if anyone is interested or wants to help me organise this thing, please let me know, it would be GREATLY appreciated!

it makes me sad to think that poor lolita will probally spend the rest of her life in that bowl ..

I saw the title to this thread and was like 'Why does the name ring a bell...?'
I can't believe they still haven't freed her.

Hey everyone!
I posted a topic a while ago about Lolita the orca, a poor creature confined to a bathtub sized pool in Miami Seaquarium.
Good news though, there's an international protest being held on May15th, so if you're interested in attending, please email me for more details!

It will be a peaceful protest, i'm trying to design some leaflets now. I will be taking photos and videos, and sending them to Miami Seaquarium so they know that people all over the world want to see this beautiful animal back with her family - reunited with her mother, Ocean Sun, who is still alive in Washington waters.

ALSO - if you live in Australia and wish to hold your own protest for Lolita in another state, please contact me about that too happy
Email me at for more details.

Other places holding the protest:
North America -
• Berkley
• Vancouver
• Olympia
• Denver
• Chicago
• Pittsburgh
• NE Florida
• Miami

South America -
• Trinidad
• Tobago

Australia -
• Melbourne, Victoria

I would fully be into this... except I'm already going to another protest on Saturday happy
My local Rally for Same-Sex Marriage Rights - Saturday's the International Day Against Homophobia. So Lolita's demo might get a little shadowed by this thing, it's pretty big

Good luck you guys, hope you have fun getting the message out there! happy
