Hi, I brought Gullon Choc Chip cookies today and did not look at the back of the packet properly as I read they were vegan on the internet, but then I realized that could have been in another country. I saw them listed on a Peta website under accidentally vegan but then I saw that they had 'Gullon Choc Chip Biscuits' listed. When I googled it, came up with the same type I brought. This is the what the back of the packet I brought looks like...

It does say 'butter' under flavours but then it does only say 'may contain traces of milk'

So is that an artificial butter flavour and would they be considered vegan?

The butter flavour is probably Diacetyl - see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diacetyl

Diacetyl has an interesting history - see

and

I would be more worried about " May contain traces of nuts and milk."

Coles have Leda cookies see -
