At the end of June, the environment ministers will be coming together for their regular meeting. We want their main focus to be a ban on lightweight single use plastic bags throughout Australia.
While a number of Australian states and territories have committed to a ban, three states are yet to act, NSW, VIC and WA. But it is becoming harder every day for them to resist community pressure. A current petition by the Channel 10 program, The Project and our ally Clean Up Australia has already been signed by over 127,000 people; and our opinion polling shows a big majority of Australians want action.
We have waited long enough. 180 million bags enter the Australian environment every year! Please help us push these governments over the line, by writing a personal email telling the Ministers why you support a ban on plastic bags.

Earlier this week, WA Environment Minister, Stephen Dawson, indicated that Western Australia would consider action – but we also need the two biggest states with the biggest bag litter - NSW and VIC - to act by the end of June.
The next few weeks are critical for increasing pressure on the NSW, WA and Victorian ministers. We need your continued support, please send a personal email to your minister today. Help make a positive difference for our oceans!
No more excuses Australia, now is time to #banthebag
Thank you - we can win this!
