Come and join us at a rally in Melbourne to celebrate World Oceans Day at the steps of the Victorian Parliament House from 1 to 2pm this coming Thursday 8th of June on World Oceans Day! This will be a fun and creative event to celebrate the oceans and the beautiful creatures in them.
We will be demanding action on marine plastic pollution with: a drumming band, a 2-metre sperm whale puppet swimming though a 'sea' of people waving plastic bags, a bag monster and Polly the plastic pollution penguin. We will voice our frustration about the lack of action in Victoria on plastic bags in particular - as they are one of the most prolific and dangerous items for marine wildlife. We know there is massive community support for action.
For more information, head to the Facebook Event (see
https://www.facebook.com/events/437831779906480) and please share it with your friends and family! Don't forget to bring along plastic bags, strung together as pom-poms - through which this awesome sperm whale puppet can swim through!
We hope to see you there!
