I put the question to you...
do you eat rennet or Gelatin?
Before i went vegan this was always a hot debate amongst vegos!

In my personal opinion a vegeterian is someone who refrains from eating or wearing anything that an animal had to die for (fur, leather, flesh, gelatin, rennet)

What do y'all think?
P.S. Still eating fish sits fine with me, everyone just cutting out even red meat makes such a difference!

Nope, I'm willing to bet most of us are informed enough that we know about rennet and gelatine. It's not really a huge secret.

And I'm of the opinion that cutting out any meat is a big step in the right direction, but it's people who bang on about animal welfare and still eat fish that bug me.

Perfectly said. No one likes a hypocrite. And well... a pescatarian who pushes animal rights is a hypocrite.
And as for the whole geltine/rennet 'debate'- you will find that most vegetarians and vegans alike are mature enough to know about it.

How? Fish, just like other animals, live for their own reasons, feel pain, suffer and don't want to die.

By choosing not to eat some types of animals, you are acknowledging they suffer for no reason, right? So, with those ideals, how can you say that fish are ok to suffer and die for us?

And on gelatine and rennet... I'm sure everyone here knows what those things are and so avoids them. I'm also pretty sure that most vegetarians, when educated in gelatine and rennet, will avoid it too.

Also, if you eat fish, please don't call yourself a vegetarian; you're a pescetarian. You're making the 'real' vegetarians look bad.

I think if someone eats fish, they shouldn't call themselves vegetarian. The definition of vegetarian means  no meat, chicken or fish. I used to get really annoyed when eating out at a restaurant and asking for a vegetarian meal and being served fish... Grrrr....

However, I think it is ok for a vegetarian to consume dairy, eggs, gelatin, rennet, honey, and wear wool, silk, leather and use animal tested products. Vegans are the ones who eliminate these. I think it is unreal if vegetarians don't eat or use them though!

nope i don't eat either of them.

most vegetarians wouldn't, at least not once they learn what they are and they do there research.

I agree with whats been said here, hypocrites are annoying and are well hypocrites.
pescetarians are not vegetarians. however they do help a lot of animals, just fish are animals as well so that sort of goes into the whole why eat one and love another stuff.

When I was vege I ate the Rennet in cheese, but not  gelatine in anything...

Vegetarians just technically aren't meant to eat meat. One could argue that consuming the rennet and gelatine of animals is just increasing the demand for the substances and therefore causing more animals to die therefore helping meaty industries.

But then you could argue the same thing about milk, seeing as drinking it directly helps the veal industry.

Hence why I kinda doubt that milk is even proper vegetarian....
