llegal dealings. Bribery. Environmental and social destruction. Corruption, fraud and human rights abuses. Those are just some of the allegations facing Adani, the multinational giant behind the destructive Carmichael megamine.
But despite that appalling track record, Adani has the Queensland and Federal governments firmly in its pocket. That’s why NAIF - the secretive government body with ties to the mining industry - is ready to give Adani a $1 billion loan of public money to build the rail line from Carmichael to Abbot Point coal port. We deserve better, robert.
What we already know about Adani is disturbing enough. But we’re about to find out even more.
Tomorrow evening, the award-winning ABC current affairs series Four Corners will broadcast a hard-hitting exposé into Adani’s troubled history of dodgy dealings and its relationship with government.
Let’s be clear: Adani is bad news. It’s currently under investigation for corruption, fraud, money laundering and tax evasion in India, and has been shown in court to have misled the Australian public over the amount of royalties and jobs that the mine would generate.
They cannot be trusted, least of all with one of the most environmentally destructive projects in Australian history. It’s time to turn up the heat on Adani, and show that we will not accept our leaders cosying up to this dodgy outfit in the name of a quick buck.
