We’re ramping up the pressure on Commbank to ditch fossil fuels in the lead up to their Annual General Meeting. Will you lend your voice (literally) to demand that Commbank dump coal?
As you know, Commbank is just a Coalbank in disguise. They loan billions of dollars to fossil fuel projects, but try to hide it because they know it's a bad look. Over the past year, over 100,000 of us have told Commbank to clean up its act. In response they’ve been peddling a sad attempt at a climate policy. But we’re not going to let them get away with hollow words any longer!
With their Annual General Meeting (AGM) coming up in a little over two weeks, Commbank is really worried what people think, and we can make good use of that! Two months ago, we put their logo right on the giant mounds of coal in the coal ports their funding makes possible. Two weeks ago, we brought their dirty coal right back to their doorstep. Now, you can use your voice to make them listen!
Are you in? Then record your message for Commbank on Whatsapp and send it to us by noon, October 31st, 2017. We will share it to make sure Commbank, their shareholders and the world know it’s time for this Coalbank to ditch coal!
Here's how you can send us your voice message (it only takes a few minutes):
Using Whatsapp
If you have a smartphone, download the free messenger app WhatsApp here or go to App Store/Google Play and search for WhatsApp.
Go to your phone's contact list and create a new contact for "Greenpeace" with this number: +61409-812-641
Then open up WhatsApp, go to 'Chats' or click on the little speech bubble button to find your contacts. Then search for "Greenpeace" in your list. Click on "Greenpeace" to open a message.
Click on the microphone icon at the bottom right of the screen (not the 'call' button in the top right) and hold it while you submit your simple voice message.
Say your name, where you’re from, and tell CommBank why you think they should dump coal. Keep it short and sweet - one or two sentences is perfect.
No Whatsapp? Use your phone's voice recorder:
If you have a smartphone, you can also record it on your phone's existing voice recording app.
Go to your apps and look for the 'voice recorder' or 'voice memo' (they're called different things depending on the phone you have).
Record your message - say your name, where you’re from, and tell CommBank why you think they should dump coal. Save your recording, send to and attach it as a file.
