Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd introduce you to my little sister "**PoP GoES the BuBBle**".  She's thinking about becoming a vegetarian but hasn't gotten a lot of support from her friends thus far and is scared of what our Mum will say (she still lives at home, she's only little haha).

I just thought that because you guys are all so great and supportive that you'd be able to give her some advice on how to deal with friends and parents as I myself have not had any trouble in these areas (live away from home and my friends are all open minded).

She really wants to give it a go so it'd be great if you guys could give her some support, tips and friendship happy.

Thanks everyone!

Your TRUE friends will support you or at the very least be cool with you.
I have.
My Mum was cool with it as her nephew was a vegan but my Dad & his side of the family was full on at war with me for ages and resorted to very dirty tatics and made me feel very depressed at first. But you have something I didnt, a veg SISTER  plus if your sister is veg I'm sure your family is used to it. BUT remember dont let anyone tease you coz right now your doing a great thing and should be very proud.
At the moment I'm turning vegan but aint gonna tell family till I am.
If you want any advice especially if you have people teasing you or family giving you a hard time, add me and ill give you tips.
Otherwise GOOD LUCK!

Azz pretty much summed it up.
It's up to you what you want to put in our body and contribute to, you don't need friends who aren't going to be there for you and you've already got a veg in the family - your sister, which should hopefully make it easier.
When you tell them maybe offer up ideas about how you can help not make vegetarianism a hassle to them like helping to cook, going shopping with whoever usually does it etc.

My advise is stick to your guns, let everyone know why you are doing this and don't let anyone make you feel less of a person or an inconvenience or pain.
In time they will all adjust, if people say to you "it's just a phase..." just prove them wrong! That's what I did!

Unfortunately I was slow on the uptake being a veg; Mum has no experience with it.  She was a bit freaked when I was cooking pasta bake because it wasn't the usual meat, potato and vegies!  I told the little sis to check out vegweb though, that site's great for recipes!

Thank you so much for being helpful and friendly to her!  It's great that she can have some support on here!
