DUCKSHOOTING: THE FACTS

·     82% of Eastern Australia’s native waterbirds have disappeared since 1989 (1).

·     87% of Victorians oppose duck shooting (2).

·     Most ducks are not killed instantly but die slow painful deaths, as shooters use shotgun pellets which scatter and maim birds; at least 30% are wounded, not killed outright (3).

·     The Victorian government’s Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (AWAC) has repeatedly recommended a ban on duck shooting.

·     Protected and threatened species are always illegally shot during the season (4).

·     WA, NSW and QLD have already banned duck shooting. There was no season Victoria in 2007 and 2008, due to drought and low bird numbers.

·     Waterbirds are nomadic and cross over state boundaries in search of water. Wetlands have been damaged by drought and climate change.

·     The Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment advised the 2009 season should not go ahead. The Premier ignored this advice.

·     Vic Labor Party members also voted against a 2009 duck shooting season. This was overridden by the Premier, due to a "technicality" in the lodgement process.

·     In 2010 the Premier has declared an extended duck shooting season (20 March–30 May, 32 days longer than usual) and increased the number of birds hunters can kill

·     Victoria faces a state election in November 2010.

·     The Duck Army is calling for an end to duck shooting in Victoria.

I think if hunters want a real challenge they should just join the army. At least then it's fair game...Maybe when they get wounded after living their lives peaceful and free, they will think that it's not so right to take ducks down from the sky for no reason other than self-fulfillment.
i hope ur coming warddy
