From the words of Humane Chain.

"Sydney Vet Dr Manuela Trueby speaks out in opposition to live sheep exports
"As a veterinary surgeon that truly cares about the physical and emotional wellbeing of animals, it is my ethical and professional obligation to call for an end of this cruel live export trade.

Australia generally enjoys a good reputation regarding animal welfare, however it is the world's largest exporter of animals for slaughter. Sheep are cramped for weeks on huge ships carrying up to 100,000 sheep at a time and many die on the journey due to stress, heat exhaustion, injuries and infections like salmonellosis.

Frozen meat export would create more jobs for Australians and animal suffering would be tremendously reduced.

Everyone who cares about animal welfare should join the Humane Chain to help put an end to the cruelty of live sheep export in Australia."

Dr Manuela Trueby established Balmain Village Veterinary Clinic in 1992. She recognised the need in the community for an easily accessible veterinary clinic which offered state-of-the-art veterinary services and holistic therapies.

Yay. If you have myspace, facebook, bebo or twitter send out an update/bulletin whatever to spread the word!!
Also if you haven't notice in the "take action" page, there are nice banners to put on your own page- I have some on myspace for example. Its a great way to familarise people with Unleashed and the more people we can get signed up the more animals can be saved!!

Yesss. I joined it about 2 weeks ago and it had no where near as many red chain lines as it does now.... which means its growing tremendously... which is fabulous!

Just a thought on the Live Export Campaign... everyone should go and print off one of the petition papers. You dont have to go around collecting signatures (although that would be fabulous), but at least just leave it on your fridge so when family & friends see it, they will be intrigued and want to sign.

Yep! Good idea! There is also a new one at Australian Assoc for Humane Research.... "Pound Dogs Used for Veterinary Practice at Queensland University". Visit www.aahr.org.au

I work at a vet clinic and have gotten hundreds of signatures and funnily enough probably 99% are omni's! They just have no idea what goes on sad

If you don't work, see if you can put the petitions up at school or pass them around at lunchtime. Or go around and see if Vet Clinics, Pet Shops, Pet Barns etc will display them happy
