yes, it is vegan.

i would turn around and say "wow i didn't know you knew more about being a vegan than i did? who would've thought you'd be telling ME what i can and can't eat"

just like i do to anyone else who says to me "you can't eat that" "thats got that in it" when they don't even do research on things themselves.

yeast is not an animal. it is classified as a fungus.

I don't think it is but its just yeast is a fungus so thats what must be confusing them if they are actually being serious. But yep fungus is vegan!

I had this dilemma when I first converted! It's vegan happy
I wouldn't care what other people are saying to you, even if it is family. Just tell them that you're sure the cow on their plate suffered more than your yeast.
It's okay to make slip ups every now and then aswell, we're only human. By converting to a vegan diet you're saving the lives of hundreds of animals every year, don't beat yourself up too much if you accidentally eat something with whey or casein in it. You will eventually know the foods you can and can't eat. Good luck!

yeast is a microbe used to make bread and beer. it contains a special enzymethat turns sugar molecules into carbon dioxide and alcohol. The carbon dioxide gas makes bread rise and causes bubbles in beer. Don't worry the alcohol produced evaporates in bread! tongue

yes i am a bio nerd and i have a soft toy yeast (its soo cute!) so i'd thought i'd educate you all happy
