Eleven rare Siberian tigers have died at a cash-strapped zoo in China, heightening concerns about conditions at wildlife facilities in the country.
The tigers were reportedly starving and kept in small cages.
The tigers died in the past three months at Shenyang Forest Wild Animal Zoo, located in the country's cold northeast region, officials and state media said Friday.
Reports said the tigers had been fed nothing but chicken bones and starved to death. A zoo manager said unspecified diseases killed the animals during the harsh winter.
I am sick of reading about zoos neglecting their animals!!
That's disgusting! And it's even worse considering they're such a rare species. Something needs to be done, I'm tired of hearing about such brutality in Asian zoos.
That's just so wrong, why can't they move away from chinese traditional medicines and onto products which ACTUALLY WORK!
Siberian tigers are magnificent animals, it would really be a shame to see their numbers completely removed from the wild.
In my view, the treatment of animals in Asia (from what I've seen as well as been told by various sources) is a lot more honest.
Zoos are obviously cruel.
Using animals for food is obviously cruel
As well as other things.
Australia and other Western countries are just as cruel to be doing the same things, but it goes on behind closed doors.

i dont think animals are starved to death in Australian zoo's. Deprived of the freedom yes, but there not neglected untill their skin and bone.
