To all younger members of Animals Oz,

As a 64 year old, it does my heart good to see the animal welfare views of so many young Aussies expressed on this Unleashed website.

It seems that so many humans over 30 years of age have compromised their youthful humane ideals for reasons of mortgages, job advancement, security, etc.. Also, most politicians see no further than the next election, as was shown by the recent inaction at the global warming/climate change conference in Europe. In addition, most large private corporations are basically interested in profits, shareholder interests and the salaries of their boards and executive staff.

So we are left with the young and idealistic of this planet's human population to see that animals are adequately protected from cruelty and that all living species on this planet live a reasonable life into the next century.

It is no co-incidence that many negative ideologies and ideological icons have relied on youth groups to spread unsound ideology [e.g. Hitler and the Hitler Youth]. However, with this Animals Australia Unleashed movement we have the opportunity to lend the enthusiasm, idealism and energy of youth to a positive and worthwhile end.

Sorry if this note seems a bit preachy and paternalistic,

Keep going Animals Oz Unleashed.

Yeah, finally somebody has something nice to say about our generation rather than accusing us of being lazy, selfish & unmotivated.

Thanks Keith! Speaking up for the voiceless, any thank you is very much appreciated!

And to my fellow youths: while talking about animal issues within our friendship groups may seem effective and worth it, if we really want to make a difference for animals we need to engage more people than that; we must engage the wider Australian public.

There's 2 options this week for any of you guys in Melbourne to do so:

Unleashed Street Team leafleting featuring Sedgewick the Sheep:

Unleashed Street Team petitioning at Brand New:

Hope to see some of you dedicated Unleashians there. happy
