"Brian Meldrum, a member of the Australian Jumps Racing Association, defended jumps racing, describing it as “an extreme sport”."
are you f#@%ing me?!?
i'd like to show him a f#@%ing extreme sport. what a piece of work. scum of the earth.
Extreme for who exactly? The jockey or the horse......... I'm sure the jockey gets a kick out of it... and I'm sure they could get a kick out of sky diving too... but you can't tell me the horse gets the kicks out of it? Reading through those comments on the news article and seeing people say "it's natural for a horse to jump so they are just doing what is natural" umm excuse me? Horses run.... jump maybe to get over something when they are full pelt, but not for the sake of it! Some people just have no fricken idea....

Absolutely. On one hand it's "natural" and on the other it's "extreme"...? Horses are smarter than that... To think they "want" to jump over obstacles at dangerous speeds at the risk of serious injury and even death...
