hey

I dunno if you guys are into pop punk? But there is a band called Fireworks touring soon. I think they are going a show with New Found Glory here on the 11th.. as well as playing at snitch on the 15th and the fort on the 16th.

I have talked to the guy whos running merch for them while they are in australia. He said it's cool if we have some flyers ect at the merch table as long as it doesn't take up too much room. But I will probs be hanging out there a bit anyway cos he is a friend of mine.

So is there anyone who would like to do leafleting outside before the shows? Might have more luck at the all age show on friday. Or are there any petitions I can have in there to be signed or anything?

For gigs, i definitely recommend petitioning over leaflets. With signing people up to petitions, you not only can use their name + email for the petition, but it allows Unleashed to email them on other issues - i.e. they get all the issues digitally as they would with a leaflet. People are also likely to throw leaflets away when at a gig.

If you're interested petitioning, you can use this petition:

http://www.unleashed.org.au/documents/unleashed-petition-HJ.pdf

For every person going, allow 16 copies of the petition spread over 4 clipboards each, with each person having 4 pens.

I also recommend getting an Unleashed or Animals Australia T-shirt. Not only will others recognize your with an organization, but it will let you feel more confident too.

With your 4 clipboards, just approach groups lined up ready to go inside.

I say something like, "hey guys, interested in signing a petition against animal cruelty?"

99% of people will say yes straight away, and most of the time you won't even be asked about the issue. Once you've secured their emails + names, say thanks and go to the next group. It really is as easy as that!

Also, make sure to get there an hour or so before the doors are meant to open. It will allow you more time to talk with the crowd and get petitions signed, so you don't need to rush.

Good luck with it, and if you have any questions (cos I probably wasn't that clear in my excitement of someone else getting active haha), you can always ask me! happy

Or, if you can't find help in time before the gig (cos it's pretty damn hard doing it alone) - just bringing down a few petitions for the table + some leaflets would be great too! happy

Tersh, that's great that you're keen to get out there and speak up for animals, and top work on spotting the opportunity.

Matt's pretty much covered everything else I would've said (thanks Matt wink ), except to say that if you spot any other great opporutnities, let me know and I'll see what I can do to assist in arrange helpers.
