Hi Everyone! My name is Victoria

I have just joined the forum and thought I would quickly introduce myself before I post on other threads
1. Where are you from?
I am originally from Moscow, Russia (moved away when I was 9) but currently live in Brisbane, Australia.
2. How did you find Unleashed?
I discovered Unleashed after browsing the Animals Australia website. It had a lot of good information and great people, so I wanted to be a part of it!
3. Cake, or candy?
Hmmm... cake! Definitely cake!
4. What are you wearing?
I am currently sitting at work, in a boring black dress.. haha
5. Rain, hail, or shine?
Rain! Nothing beats a rainy afternoon indoors with a cup of tea and a book.
6. What are you listening to right now?
Currently listening to people around me typing on their keyboard!
7. Anything else you want to add!
Well, I guess I will give a little more information about myself and REALLY why I am here.
So a few weeks ago I came across Gary Yourofsky - a vegan animal activist. I'm sure many of you would know of him. If not - check him out, he is incredible.
I watched one of his lectures about the meat, egg and dairy industry and instantly something inside me clicked. He made so much sense, he spoke so passionately and truthfully. I had never heard anyone speak like that and I watched his videos over and over again, and they have made me believe that I NEED to be vegan.
I have never enjoyed eating meat. Never in my life. I was forced to eat meat by my parents. I would always pick it out of my meals and leave it on the plate. Even in the past few years, I have consumed as little meat as possible, and anything meat-based was never my preference for meals.
But, my boyfriend who is an avid meat-eater, unfortunately makes this difficult. He is constantly frustrated at me for refusing to eat it. Telling me that I will 'fade away' and become weak if I don't eat meat. I tell him that most serious health conditions in the world are related to eating animal products, and he tells me I don't know what I am talking about.
So that makes things hard.
I have now ditched eating animals forever. I do not consume milk, cheese or eggs. But, as I am new to the wonderful world of veganism, it can be really hard as SO many things contain "traces of...milk, cheese, etc".
But, I am going to try as hard as I can to be the best person that I can in the eyes of animals. I am going to focus on the foods that my body needs to be healthy, and eat those. Whole grains, beans, lentils, greens, fruit, veg, etc...
I know this is a lifestyle I want to have, and I am going to embrace it!
