It's strange how so many people are so fixated on just the scene with the dog in the garbage truck.. That scene is at the beginning of the film so it leads me to assume most people stopped watching after that.. However I totally agree that scene is highly upsetting and disturbing, but my heart broke for every single animal in this film (and continues to for every animal that it's happening to RIGHT AT THIS VERY MOMENT), some scenes affected me more than others, like the pig farm workers poking the pigs with sticks and abusing them as they were being sent off to slaughter (like they hadn't been degraded enough already) and the dolphin..
This film highlights the most important point about humanitys utter disreguard for non-human animals welfare, suffering and complete dependence on them. This film is about speciesism, which is just as relavent as rascism, sexism, homophobia, or any other thought process and behaviour that degrades and abuses another living creature.. If you can't "bring" yourself to watch it you're just burying your head in the sand. You're being presented with the truth about how the world really is, and how cruel we as a species really are. It's not about having the guts or the strength to watch it, you should want to know the truth to make this a more peaceful and gentle world for all "earthlings" to co-exist in.. Sorry to get a bit militant about it, but I'm sick to death of people whinging when presented with the truth.
"It is a human beings sympathy with all living creatures that makes a truly HUMAN being"
Great doco. Turned me from vegetarian to vegan. Can not get the image of the blinking animal who had been skinned alive out of my head. Makes me shake and feel ill whenever I think about bit.
I agree Ames, i hate that scene to, and above someone mentioned the pig.... yes again i find myself just i had that feeling in my chest like you know as i kid when someone 'hurts ur feelings' its just this ache in ur chest.
my view of the world is so wierd now. i just have to try not to feel angry at people. but i often find my self just like breaking as i see the fast food ads and all the cooking shows trying to make meat sound like food.
i have lost faith in the world. . i always think of all the activists in the world and evryone on here but i feel so outnumbered. i just want to move to a tiny vegan community and forget about the world sometimes. but we have these fight these bastards!
I watched it on YouTube on my iPod. I WILL watch the rest! I think all them people that love meat and would eat it forever should watch earthlings especally! Them they will see what really happens to their beloved meat (I do eat meat but not very much and I hate it!)
