I have never been more inspired, shocked, horrified and amazed in my life.
as graphic as it is it is a must-see for everyone whether they care for animal rights or not.
For all you guys who "couldn't get your partner to watch it" and they "still" eat meat... Just throwing something out there: I am not in any position to tell you what criteria to use when dating etc, you should try to understand however, you (if long term, serious, or deep) and your partner share a common bond. Be careful of what may be common in that, and realise that you for the most part will stand together as 1 solid unit for a good portion of your time together. If your partner doesn't share your values it says a lot... And as a team you won't be entirely veg or whatever you hope or even claim to be on your own. Sorry for the depressing rant, just something I've been noticing more and more lately.
On another note I felt earthlings showed way to much worst case scenario, going beyond the rules, full over the top illegal cruelty stuff, which gives haters the "that's like 1 in a million people doing something wrong" argument. I think if they'd have just shown the normal, legal regulation, everyday preparation of their steak then it wouldn't have such a brutal impact - just a very real one.
I havent seen it yet, I'm not sure if I'm brave enough, I do want to see it but my bff told me about the trailer and what happens in it and i almost cried while she was talking to me!
Anyone, feel free to tell me about the grusome bits im a bit squeemish...
I am still working up the courage to watch it! :/ I know I'll be an absolute mess throughout. Probably would end up eating an entire vegan chocolate cake afterwards.. Comfort eating at its worst!
I've just finished watching it. I made myself watch the entire movie (no trailer) as I felt it was important. I will never know first hand what these animals went through & still go through today, but I felt an obligation to all the animals who have suffered in the past, because of me. They endure months or years of discomfort and pain, the very least I can do is be uncomfortable for 90 minutes.
I was planning on taking a couple of months to transition to vegan, but the animals can't wait that long. I'm giving myself to the end of the month.
I played earthlings to like 15 of my friends....and they just got up to a minute and told me to shut it off, I did. This was a long time ago...and they still eat meat...it hasnt changed them at all :/
I really like EARTHLINGS because it gives a people an understanding, but I don't think everyone realises that not everywhere is like that.
I've worked on a dairy farm, the owner is young and he treats his cows great. He know's everyone of his animals and something about them. While I was working there we visited another farm and they have been breeding their herd for 25 years and they are all amazing looking cows.
It's not all as cruel as the film makes it out to be...
