Well at least, i think its a stray - either that or the owners seriously neglect it.
Theres a little maltese dog running around near my street nearly all the time. Its been about over a year, and im growing worried about it everytime i see it. Its very unclean, and underweight. And im worried it might even get hit by a car, seeing as though it seems to be
deaf as well, since my brother beeped at it and doesnt hear approaching cars.
I dont know who the owner is, if it even has one, but is there anything i can do?
I think the best thing would be to somehow take it to a vet or the RSPCA because it might have a problem like you said with its hearing. They can check for a microchip and help it. If its stray they can put it up for adoption (after helping it) or return it to its owner.
As a human being I feel that it's our responsibility as the dominant species to help out any other species in need when we see it to the best of our ability.
I'd seriously consider collecting him; feeding him some (be careful though as if he doesn't eat much he might get the runs) and then either keeping him OR taking him to The RSPCA or an animal welfare group.

I agree. Maybe the poor little guy can find a loving home in you.

Definately take him to a vet or pound to get scanned. If you leave him on the street, one day he will get hit.
It's amazing how far pets can roam from home. So he might not have been dumped or neglected and may have a loving family who have been looking for him.
Probably don't take it to the vet yourself as it could attack. Call the RSPCA or an animal organisation or even the council (they have contacts to call) who are trained to rescue dogs like that.

actually, yeah, some councils do that, but my local council takes them to the RSPCA. I think you would have to check. Or call RSPCA first, this is probably best.
i hope the doggy finds a home!! Animal welfare organisations are probably your best option so try smaller adoption groups they are usually more willing to wait longer periods before they euthanise animals ( ie last resort)- preferably not the rspca tho, they seem to put down a lot of animals.

The RSPCA aren't interested unless the animal is caught/confined. They won't come out for a wandering animal.
I suggest if you can catch it, take it to the vets to be scanned. If it is not microchipped and you can't keep it yourself, as others have said, try to find a more friendly shelter that aren't hell bent on euthanising everything.
